  • be at least 18 years of age
  • be a legal resident of Illinois for at least 30 days;
  • be a United States citizen or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence;
  • be able to read and write English;
  • not have been convicted of a felony;
  • not have had a notary commission revoked; and
  • take an oath of office (swearing in process) that you have read the Il Notary laws and that you will obey them.

5 SIMPLE & EASY STEPS FOR OBTAINING YOUR IL NOTARY COMMISSION, BOND & STAMP
1.  Fill out the below, then click Submit button.

















2.   Pay the $49.99 processing fee




Once payment is received, your Notary Bond & Application will be immediately ordered. Once ordered, there are no refunds.
Please Note: The bonding agent we work with, will issue the required IL notary bond directly onto your specific IL Notary Application.

3.  Once your Notary Application is received from our agent
It will then be mailed to the address you provided on your notary application, for your completion and notarized signature.

4.  When you receive the Notary Application
You must fill it out completely, sign your official name in the Notarial Oath & Notary Bond Sections in front of a notary public,
then attach a very good copy of your IL driver's license
(front & back if you have a renewal sticker) or IL State identification card,
and mail both your completed application and copy of your identification documents to:

If we do not receive your completed, signed & notarized application, CNS can not further process your application for an IL notary public commission!

5.  Once CNS receives your completed, signed & notarized IL Notary Application
It will be immediately mailed to the IL Secretary of State's Office for further processing. CNS will send you an email at this step.
Once your commission number has been assigned, the IL SOS office will send you a written notification to your home address .

**PLEASE NOTE - ONCE YOUR IL NOTARY COMMISSION HAS BEEN ISSUED, YOUR NOTARIAL CERTIFICATE WILL BE SENT TO YOUR LOCAL
COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE. THE CLERK'S OFFICE WILL THEN NOTIFY YOU BY MAIL ON HOW TO RECORD NOTARIAL CERTIFICATE.
YOU ARE SOLELY
RESPONSIBLE FOR RECORDING YOUR NOTARIAL CERTIFICATE.

CNS will provide you with a Notary Stamp once your commission has been approved. Email CNS and provide us with your newly issued notarial
commission number. We are not obligated to order your stamp if we do not have the above information.
